Life is too short, some things change, some don’t.

29 Feb

Last weekend we had an Arkansas State University Reunion here in Stockholm. älskling, JP and I who live here welcomed Delph, Laura and Betina who we met 5 years ago in the US. I hadn’t seen Laura in 2 years and Betina in 5 years!  We had a lovely weekend walking around in the city and taking long and nice fika breaks. It had been so long since we were all together last time but it didn’t feel like it.

Unfortunatly, all good things come to an end, and they had to leave.

Another good thing coming to end? Camelia’s cupcakes is closing down her store in östermalm. She’ll keep her catering business though, but no more “teddybear chai latte hug” and georgous chocolate peanut butter cupcakes break for us :-(

“Joey, It’s Estelle !” *

27 Feb

February 23rd, very very early in the morning was born Estelle, Sylvia, Ewa, Mary. Future Queen of Sweden.

It was so weird and somehow fascinating for me to follow this major event. I woke up and on every channel all i could

see was the Prince repeating the same thing over and over again. “It’s a princess“.

From there, every journalists in Sweden started to speculate about the name that we would only learn the following day due to a crazy and slitely ridiculous protocole according to which the prime minister and 2 other persons are supposed to “approve” the child. They basically take a good look at it and say “yeah, i saw it, it’s a baby“.  Then the king holds a press conference in the Castle where he tells the world (ok, Sweden) what her title will be and finally her names.

Anyhow, conclusion for this quite useless post, i realized that i was pretty hooked up on this Royal Swedish soap opera. I need a job.

*Life is still too short and only”Friends” fan will get that title.

Life is too short, dance!

26 Feb

Oh those Swedes !

It’s called Lunch Beat Sthlm, it started here in 2010.On Tuesday, my friends and i went dancing during our lunchbreak.

It takes place every month in different places, this time it was at Kulturhuset, the time before that it was in the basement of the royal castle !

You come with 100sek, get a sandwich, a banana and water, the DJ starts playing at 12h and won’t stop till 13h. So you just dance, dance, dance all you can.

It was a bit surreal, a bit weird, a lot of fun.
We got out of there around 13h15 and the daylight suprized us.

We all went back to our lives. For my part, i went back to bed, it maybe wasn’t such a good idea to go out to dance my ass off, being sick :-/

Life is too short, take up every excuses to celebrate

15 Feb

So yesterday was Valentin’s day, or alla hjärtans dag as they say here.

I have always had mixed feelings with this celebration. Some years i would be like “this is purely commercial, people don’t need a date to celebrate their love bla bla bla“  and some other times i would be “let’s do something on the 14th !”

Now, i think i came to an agreement with myself. If life (or in that case chocolate and heart shaped cards businesses) give you a opportunity to celebrate something and have a good time, take it. Sure we don’t need a date to celebrate our love, we can do it whenever, so why not on that day?

And so we did. And we went on a date. And we did it all the way: red rose, chocolate, champagne, restaurant and movie. And it was GREAT. Tack älskling.

Life is too short, let’s assess.

7 Feb

what is it that when you work you have so much on your mind, so many ideas, projects, so much you wanna do but never have time to do, and that when you have all the time in the world you find yourself totally confused about what to do?

I came to realize that i hate doing nothing when nothing is all i have to do.
I’m not challenged anymore and that brings out the worst of me. That would be insecurity, doubts and irritability.
I’m not bored i’m just confused. Having a lot of time gives you a lot of time to think about the fact that you have a lot of time and that’s scary.
Even going to the gym, writting or reading which are things i love doing don’t seem as attractive to me now that i could litteraly spend the day at the gym with a book.
Conclusion: the less you do, the less you’re gonna wanna do.
Solution:  Ponte las pilas !  Get yourself movin!
