“The engine of the capitalist system is supposed to be fueled by greed . . . We must envision a world
which has not only greedy people, but also people with strong feelings for their fellow human beings . . . Both
types of people can be in the same market place, using the same tools and concepts of capitalism but pursuing
completely different goals.”
this guy is just totally my hero. in 1983 he created the Grameen Bank that provides credit to the poorest people in bangladesh without any collateral. he helped sooo many people. And for the info, in 1988, Clinton started a replica of the Grameen bank, “Good Faith Fund” to alleviate individual poverty and promote economic development and, at Arkadelphia in Arkansas.
just listen to him … finally someone who just looks around and finds it totally not normal to see so many people struggling to survive and decides to do something, not to earn money back but to help people to get a better life !!
I particularly like that he said the bank give loans mostly to women cause they are better at dealing with the money of the household 😉
he recently wrote a book “creating a world without poverty” (that, if I wasn’t so poor I would so buy ..ironic isn’t?)
