Jul bord

Jul Bord, or “Xmas table”, is a swedish tradition, and i love it. We had a Jul Bord at work today, everyone had to bring something (i was in charge of bread, not too hard), and we all gathered around the meeting table and talked, sang swedish Xmas songs and told jokes. It was a really nice moment and i ate way too much. It kinda sucks i cannot show more, but apparently im not allowed to take pics inside the embassy.

During lunch, there was a snow storm outside, again. It’s getting quite crazy here.  It’s wonderful. JP and i were like 2 kids on the way home tonight, we took pics of everything.
JP? I didn’t mention him yet did i? He is my french friend i met in Arkansas in 2006, he just got a job here and is staying at our place the time to find an appartment.

Jul Bord, ou table de Nöel, est une tradition suédoise que j’adore. C’était la Jul Bord au bureau aujourd’hui, beaucoup de bonnes choses à manger, beaucoup de chansons suédoises et de blagues un peu lourdes
Pendant ce temps, la neige continue de tomber, ça nous rend fou, c’est magnifique. On se croirait en vacances au ski.

it started to snow on sunday and didn’t stop until this morning ! Stockholm is WHITE ! TOTALLY WHITE. I’ve never seen that before, and i’m like a little kid.

What do you do when it’s COLD outside? You take a nice hot bath…with your new..duck…my new duck is a floating RADIO !!!!!

Yesterday we went Xmas shopping, again. And it snowed. It snowed a LOT. And it stayed ! I got so excited. But this morning, it was all gone. As if i had dreamed it all.

Hier, en plein shopping, il a neigé, beaucoup beaucoup. Et c’est resté. J’étais folle de joie. Ce matin, plus rien. Comme si j’avais rêvé

the days before Xmas…

I love that time of the year, people are more relaxed, knowing they’ll be on vacation with their family soon,  they drink glög and eat heart shaped pepparkakor, the streets get all kind of pretty lights, especially here, every single window has this kind triangle shaped chandelier, it’s adorable.

Since we’re not spending Xmas here, i’ll be in Paris, he’ll be in Malmö, we didn’t really got all “Xmas” crazy on the decoration, but i still wanted a little tree. And it feels more like Xmas now.

J’adore la periode avant noël…les rues qui s’illuminent (surtout ici!), les gens plus relax à l’idée des vacances qui approchent, et ici, le glög et les gateaux à la cannelles !! Même si on ne passe pas Noël ici j’ai investi dans un échantillon de Sapin pour nous mettre dans l’ambiance   De nouveaux M&M’s sont venu compléter notre collection !

you wait for it for so long, and in the wink of an eye, it’s over.

On friday, i came back to France for 3 days. For St Nicolas.

St Nicolas is the best family weekend of the year. It’s just like Xmas but better. It takes place at my grandparents’, the whole family meets (around 27 people), all the cousins (15) sleep in the attic, everyone cooks a pie or a cake, we eat a LOT, we laugh even more, on saturday we go to the St Nicolas’ market, then to the parade and watch the fireworks. Then, after dinner, we all sit on my grandparents bed and watch the election of Miss France, everyone rank their 5 favorites and we see who wins. On sunday morning, we sing, and open the presents. There are so many of them, covering the whole floor. It’s crazy. Then we eat some more.

Ce weekend, c’était la St Nicolas, le weekend le plus extra de l’année. Grande réunion familliale, une quinzaine de cousins, des bonbons, des chocolats, des tonnes de cadeaux, l’éléction de Miss France… bref, Noël en mieux.

Maria, Maria, Stockholm

That’s a flag in Gamla Stan, the old city of Stockholm, and i thought it was totally appropriate for this post

wooa, i’ve missed you little blog. But it was just bad timing. 2 of my best friends over for a week, my camera breaks and then…sick. Last week, i received a package from Maria. That’s the day my camera decided to take a break. So i apologize for the bad quality of some pictures. (The good ones are taken with Sash’s camera).

Maria from Lulu Letty send me a package with not 1, not 2 but 3 surprises that totally saved me from depression that week. Some of you might remember that last july, i got lucky and won Maria’s giveway, sponsored by Pretty Good Things. I got to pick an adorable Le Teeny Beret from Pretty Good Things Etsy shop. Unfortunatly, and i think the post system is the only responsible here, the package never arrived      I feel kind of guilty to say that Maria decided to give me hers instead.

Here is the only “good” pic of it “in action”. I got a lot of compliments about it already !

That pic was taken in a club last saturday, about 10 min before we realized we were way too old for this (pretending to enjoy ourself, trying to fight for our square meter of personal space against half naked/to much make up girls, not being able to afford drinks and moving our tired asses to Techno music). We realized all we wanted was to put on pj’s, get a cup of tea and watch a movie. People, we’re officially old.

And finally, this georgous broche. I adore broches. But i never know how to pick them. This one is perfect, i love the color, the shape.

Ce petit blog m’a manqué ! Mais entre mes amis, mon appareil photo qui se met en grève et maitenant, mon super gros rhume…ça c’est mal goupillé !

Ce post est un gros merci à Maria de Lululetty pour ses beaux cadeaux qui sont arrivés au moment parfait, la semaine dernière !

J’avais gagné, en juillet dernier le giveway de Maria, sponsorisé par Pretty Good Things. Malheureusement le Teeny Beret que j’avais choisi c’est perdu en chemin. Alors Maria a décidé de m’envoyer le sien !!! 

Elle m’a aussi envoyé de beaux rubans pour mes cheveux et cette magnifique broche !!  Que dire, si ce n’est MERCI MERCI MERCI MERCI !!

A plus, faudra que je vous raconte ma semaine pleine de rebondissements et de bouffe (Thanksgiving oblige)

Shit happens. Get over it…with wonderful friends, old boysband and pancakes

So. The forum didn’t went great. It was…kinda messy. im not quite sure i wanna talk about it. I didn’t really had time to be upset about it anyway.

On wedsnesday evening i got home quite late, exhausted, frustrated, sad and scared about the coming day.  But a package was waiting for me in the mail. A wonderful package from wonderful Maria. It made me feel so much better. It was full of adorable little presents. And i can’t wait to share them with you. Unfortunatly my camera decided to take a break (that’s the last pic i could take). But anyway, i LOVE every single one of them and i already put them in good use yesterday night. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Bon, le forum n’a pas été un franc succès. J’ai pas vraiment envie d’en parler en fait. Et puis je n’ai pas eu le temps de trop y penser.

Mercredi soir, en rentrant après la première journée, crevée, frustrée, déçue et stressée, j’ai trouvé un paquet dans le courrier. Un paquet en provenance de Maria. Rempli de petites surprises adorables qui mon complètement remontées le moral. J’ai vraiment hate de vous les montrer, malheureusement mon appareil photo à décidé de poser un RTT. (ci dessous, sa dernière photo)

Plus, friday, my very good friends Flo and Sash arrived. älskling got home. And it was all of us walking around in Stockholm. Shopping of course. Under the sun (no kidding). It was perfect. So i have a billion of stuff to show. I got a new dress for exemple.

Sash is american, and she makes the most wonderful and delicious pancakes. And we eat them. This morning we’ve been listening to Take That’s song “Back for good” non stop. The video clip is hilarious. The outfits / dance moves are amazing.

About cameras, Sash just got a new camera (Canon SD 1200) and i think i fell in love with it. I m thinking of getting it for Xmas….i wish i knew a little more about cameras..do you guys have any advices?? 

Et puis, vendredi, Flo et Sash ont débarqué. Et älskling est renté. On a passé le weekend à se balader dans les rues de Stockholm, à faire du shopping bien sur, sous le soleil (oui oui).

Sash est américaine. Elle fait les plus merveilleux pancakes au monde. Et nous, on les mange.  On écoute en boucle depuis ce matin “Back for good” de Take That. Le clip est priceless.

A propos d’appareil photo, je suis en train de tomber amoureuse de l’appareil de Sash, Canon SD 1200. Je suis en train d’envisager un investissement. J’amerais bien m’y connaître un peu plus…. des conseils?

why i won’t be able to blog so much this week

The 43 representatives of the 25 french schools and universities arrive this evening at 10.30 pm. I have to pick them up. (in the bus).

Then wedsnesday and thursday will be the big forum.

I cross my fingers everything will turn out well. No one will complain. There will be enough room for everyone, enough food, badges, enough students visiting(!!!), that the workshops will be interresting, that the banner won’t fall, that the table cloths will fit, that we will be on schedule, that no luggage gets lost, that everyone will be satisfied and fell it was worth coming, and that no one misses the plane to Helsinki. (next and last stop of the nordic tour). No, i have no reason to be stressed. right?

La raison pour laquelle je ne serais pas trop sur le net cette semaine…

Les 43 représentants des écoles et universités françaises arrivent demain soir à 22h30, je dois aller les accueillir à l’aéroport…

Et puis mercredi & jeudi c’est le grand forum.

Je croise les doigts pour que tout ce passe bien. Pour que personne ne se plaigne, qu’il y ait assez de place pour tout le monde, assez de bouffe, de badges, d’étudiants (!!!), que les ateliers soient productifs, que la bannière ne tombe pas, que les nappes tiennent, que l’on soit dans les temps, que les bagages ne soient pas perdus, que tout le monde soit contents et heureux d’être venu, et que personne ne rate son avion pour Helsinki, la prochaine et dernière étape du tour. Pourquoi je stresse?

Mom’s back in Paris… i had a great time with her here. It was so nice to go for dinner and fika after work.

We shopped a LOT this week. A LOT. The last purchase on saturday were very needed. They costed an arm, but i adore them !

Maman est rentrée à Paris c’était pourtant tellement agréable les repas et “fika” entre filles après le boulot.

Et le SHOPPING. Dans le désordre, dernier achats “vitaux” de samedi. Ca a couté un bras, mais ça valait le coup !

On saturay 14, they launched the Jimmy Choo Collection at H&M…naive me, i thought, let’s check it out…yeah right. The girls had been queuing all morning and queued all day. I never even got closer to a pair of shoes. (that i wouldn’t have been able to afford anyway)

Samedi 14, c’était le lancement de la collection Jimmy Choo chez H&M. Naive comme je suis, je me suis dit que j’irais bien y faire un tour. Ba voyons. Les filles faisaient la queue depuis l’aube et ont fait la queue toute la journée. Je n’ai même pas pu approcher une paire.  (que je n’aurais de toute façon pas pu me payer)

Tonight we went out with some friend to a very very nice restaurant called Grill, it has different atmosphere/themes, and tonight we were in the “romance/sexy lounge” area, it was really great. Plus, right next to us was Leila Bagge, one of the jury of the swedish Idol, also known as “the most beautiful swedish woman” according to älskling.

Ce soir nous sommes aller diner avec des copains dans un restau assez chic et très sympa, Grill. La déco est géniale et il y plusieurs thèmes/ déco. Ce soir on été assis dans le coin “romantique/sexy”. C’était génial. Et à côté de nous était installé Leila Bagge, un des jury de la nouvelle star suédoise, et selon älskling, “la plus belle femme suédoise”.
